What is the core of smart home security in the era of Internet of everything

The 21st century is the age of information, networks, microelectronics, optoelectronics, communications and other high-tech rapid development, security systems also with the wave of development of information technology and the entire information industry, from the original analog products gradually transition to digital, networked, intelligent monitoring products. At the same time, the improvement of people”s living standards, the concept of security from the previous enterprises and institutions, expanded to home users. More and more families have installed door magnets, infrared, smoke detection and other fire and theft prevention equipment, the realization of intelligent home security system has become an inevitable trend.

The composition of the intelligent security system

Intelligent security system has four main components: video surveillance host, peripheral wireless alarm module (remote control, door magnet, infrared, smoke, gas, etc.), user receiving terminal (cell phone, client player, e-mail) and system management platform. It is a set of digital image transmission and alarm management system based on the network, to provide users with a visual, easy and fast way to access small area security information, the perfect combination of network cameras and alarm devices, through the system platform to send real-time alarm information, the camera to view the monitoring area to determine the reasonable disposition of the situation.

For example, any changes in the user”s home or store (break-in, fire, gas leakage, etc.), the intelligent security system to text, pictures or video clips in the form of informing the user, and record a video or a picture when the alarm occurs is saved on the host SD card or sent to the platform server to save. Users can also view the situation at home or business in real time via cell phone or Internet anytime, anywhere.

Integration and communication is the core of intelligent security

According to the State Ministry of Construction, Housing Industrialization Promotion Center, the residential community to achieve the six intelligent requirements, including the implementation of automated security monitoring and management: the residential fire, the leakage of harmful gases to implement automatic alarm; burglar alarm system should be installed infrared or microwave and other types of alarm detectors; the system should be able to network with the integrated computer security management system; computer systems to burglar alarm system Centralized management and control.

From the Ministry of Construction proposed six requirements can be seen, the home”s intelligent security system to play its role, must rely on the joint operation of its various subsystems equipment, integrated feedback on a variety of environmental information. In short, the basis of the smart home security system is the communication network, its technical core is reflected in the system integration and related communication protocols to achieve mutual compatibility and exchange between devices.

To ensure the normal transmission of information, there must be a set of conventions or rules regarding the order of information transmission, information format and information content, this set of conventions or rules is the network protocol. Smart home communication network is divided into wired and wireless, wireless protocols mainly include: zigbee, z-wave, RF, Bluetooth, wifi, EnOcean; wired communication protocols mainly include: RS485, RS232, Modbus, KNX, BACnet.

RS485 and KNX are currently more widely used in the wired smart home sector. RS485 is a standard that defines the electrical characteristics of drivers and receivers in a balanced digital multipoint system, as defined by the Telecommunications Industry Association and the Electronics Industry Alliance. Digital communication networks using this standard can efficiently transmit signals under long-distance conditions and in electronically noisy environments. RS-485 makes it possible to configure inexpensive local networks as well as multi-branch communication links, and a considerable number of wired smart home manufacturers currently use the RS485 protocol.

The KNX bus, on the other hand, is a manufacturer- and application area-independent system, through which all bus devices are connected to the KNX medium (these include twisted pair, RF, power line or IP/Ethernet) and they can exchange information. The bus devices can be sensors or actuators for controlling building management devices such as: lighting, shading/blinds, security systems, energy management, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, signaling and monitoring systems, service interfaces and building control systems, remote control, metering, video/audio control, large appliances, etc. All these functions can be controlled, monitored and signaled through one unified system, without the need for additional control centers.

At the same time, in 2013 KNX was accepted by the National Standardization Administration Committee as a way to launch the “Control Network HBES Technical Specification – Residential and Building Control Systems” (HBES GB/T 20965-2013) as a recommended national standard.

In the communication of the basic network between intelligent devices, mostly wired connections are used, while wireless connections are mostly used in the interaction between devices and users. In the smart home system, the application of wireless network technology to the home network has become an unstoppable trend. Because the wireless network can provide greater flexibility, mobility, save the cost and effort spent on integrated wiring, but also very convenient and cell phone links, control.
Home intelligent security of the smart home security system is to the family home as a platform, the integration of computer technology, network communication technology and automatic control technology, a variety of applications related to family life subsystems organically combined together. The effective realization of its security system, must be reasonable use of wired and wireless communication networks with a combination of intelligent security systems to fully mobilize the security equipment in different application environments, to provide people with more comfortable, efficient, convenient and safe modern living environment.
